Jen GardnerBeing a member of the Collective gives me the opportunity to remain active and maintain my technical skills in an intimate and non-pressured environment with people I admire and trust. It provides an open and exploratory space to play, create and to exchange ideas; to work with new and familiar texts and writers; and to engage in and nurture creative relationships outside of a professional setting. Each workshop I am constantly inspired by the work and the standard of the collective members and by each of our visiting directors. I have also benefited enormously from The Collective members’ willingness and generosity to offer their advice, support and feedback on individual work.
I have a strong interest in Shakespeare, contemporary and new writing, particularly Australian playwright Tom Holloway and Tasmanian playwright Finnegan Kruckemeyer and fringe theatre. In addition to performing, I am developing my own monologue for performance and look forward to sharing its progress with The Collective.
